When I saw my fellow friends baked their cakes and cookies, my heart screams to try the recipe.Saw Reena with her oreo truffles, Amie with her macarons and Shila with her chocolate chip cookies.

I tried macarons, twice! but boy, it was not as easy as it looks! I failed both attempts ending my macarons look like macaroons! :P

As for the truffles, I'll save it for later :) So last night, I tried Shila's choc chip recipe. I think it's the easiest recipe to try especially if you're a first timer (like me!) :P

The colour didn't turn out to be like what Shila did. Maybe I over do the cocoa powder :P
But the taste was awesoommmee!!!

The whole house smell of cookies and even my clothes and hair!!

Brought some to the office today for them to try but for non-malay lah. The rest get free smell :P

and tonight, going to try another recipe :P

You can check her blog for the recipe :)

Have a nice dayy!!!!

Steam Promfret (Bawal Steam)

Finally last week I managed to cook on my own the Steam Promfret. Luckily my mom dropped by our home the day before and I wrote me these recipe. It really is a piece of cake! I can't believe I was able to do it! (even baking a cake is harder) :P

This piece of paper is like a masterpiece. Never loose it! :P

It's kinda hard to find this particular fish here in Seberang Jaya. I don't know Pulau Pinang. So this fish was brought by my mom all the way from Alor Setar okeh :P

Anyway.. this is how to prepare this steam prom-fret my way (well, my mom's way) :P

Ingredients :
  • 1 medium size steam prom-fret (preferably bawal emas/white prom-fret)
  • carrots, tomato, lemongrass (serai), celery, spring onion (daun bawang/sup) - for decorations
  • 7 cloves of garlic (bawang putih)
  • 1 inch of ginger (halia lebih kurang besar ibu jari )
  • 1 tsb of black pepper (if you like it spicy, add more)
  • pinch of salt & sugar
  • tamarind (asam jawa) to remove the smell
  • 1 tsbp of oyster sauce
Preparation :
  • Clean fish of all innards and cut slits onto the body of the fish. spread asam jawa all over the fish.put aside
  • crushed all items highlighted all together (i used the traditional lesung batu for this :P) .
  • spread the crushed items all over and leave some inside the fish.
  • put lemongrass, carrots,  spring onion & tomato on the fish
  • pour a bit of water into the container. Just a bit okay?. Say enough to cover half of the fish.
  • leave it for approx.10 minutes (marinate)
To cook :
  • I used microwave to steam the fish. It's so much easier and so does my mom! :P
  • for the steamer, I used one of this corningware to steam the fish. If you don't have this, do not fret. You can used any container that is microwavable ;)
  • Set the microwave with medium-high. In my case, there's an setting button for steam fish. Says there medium-high for steaming and approx 10 minutes. (sekejap je kan?

  • make sure the container must be closed!
and voila!! I give you the steam prom-fret!!!

Okay, I'm not much of a recipe writing person :P
So if you find this a bit confusing, let me know :D

Good luck!

Simplest Crabstick Fried Rice

This is my 2nd attempt making the fried rice since the 1st time was such a success (dinner) so why not do it again (breakfast) :P This will be the simplest of the simplest recipe I've ever tried! (Trust me, I'm not much of a cook. When I say simple, it really is simple :P)

Hariz food supply

I still can't picture myself being away from my little one especially for more than 1 day! There is nothing more I worry of than my little one being without his mother! Will he be okay? Will he eat? Will he sleep well? Will he cries for no reason? All these questions have been on my head since the 1st day I got the news that I have to be away for few days.

Not I don't trust my husband to take care of Hariz on his own but I think it would be best for both Hariz and Wan if Hariz be with my parents at my hometown in Alor Setar.

Even though my mom will prepare all the food for Hariz when I'm gone, I just can't help myself from preparing his food and make sure that the supplies suffice. (so I will feel better when I'm away later knowing that I have made all the food) :)

Anyways, today I had a bit of a time to prepare 3 types of baby food for Hariz :

(one) : brown rice + broccoli + carrots

(two) : brown rice + broccoli + salmon

(three) : potato + carrots

This is pretty much what I need to prepare the food.

1.brown rice - to be cooked on stove until it turned to porridge
2. carrots cut into cubes
3. potatoes cut into cubes
4. broccoli - removed the stems because it could cause gas. (that explains the farting :P)
5. Item 2-4 to be steamed for about 45 minutes to cook.

Put them together according to your liking (I basically followed my instinct (ikut suka)in this matter. janji sedap :P) Owh i don't use salt or sugar in making this food ya. Try using friend anchovies (ikan bilis goreng) instead.

I usually made them in large amount because to prepare baby's food, kinda takes time. So I made it in one shot and store them in baby cubes (2oz each). It's really convenient. You can store the food up to 2-3 months in the freezer. But normally, Hariz will finished them in 1 months time :)

I'll be away for 4 days but I think the food could last for more than 1 months! Don't you think? :P Owh remember to labelled them accordingly so you won't missed the expiry date.

A little guide for travelling with baby food my way :)

First of all, make sure the amount of food needed and days of travelling. As for Hariz, he had 3 meals in a day, breakfast, lunch and of course, dinner. Say if we were to travel for 3 days, I will pack 9 baby cubes. Put the cubes in a sealed plastic bag so in case the food spilled, it won't spoil your luggage. So far we have travelled by plane and car. The methods are pretty much the same whether you are travelling either plane or car. But if the travelling time is longer than 6 hours, you might consider putting the food with ice packs to keep them cool longer. and make sure the place you're headed has a fridge. If not, you may need to bring a cooler with you.

When it is time to feed your baby, just take 1 cube and dip it in a hot water for a while and it's ready to be consumed! Wasn't that easy?

If you have any other recipe for baby, please share with me!Sharing is caring right? :) Thanks love!

I'm not much of a cook...

.. but when I cook, I like to be creative. I like to explore and try on new things. So far, I suka masak yang bakar-bakar je :P like brownies, pizza and this baked macaroni.

It's easy peasy! I can even do it with my eyes close! Thatt easy (haha..ok maybe I'm exaggerating it a bit).
I made this makaroni bakar a day before our housewarming party. Buat 3 trays. Beef and chicken. But I think beef tastes better.

This is the 1st time we're using the oven. Took us awhile jugak to figure out how to use it :P

The recipe for the makaroni is simple. I just copy it from the net.
BAHAN-BAHAN :

300 gm macaroni - direbus sampai kembang
500 gm ayam/daging cincang
2 cawan cheese monzarella/cheddar
30 gm butter
1 biji bawang merah
2 biji bawang putih
1 cawan susu segar
1 sudu teh lada sulah
1 sudu teh oregano/italian mix herbs
1 kiub pati ayam
4 sudu teh serbuk kari
4 biji telur
Garam secukup rasa

* Rebus makaroni sampai kembang dan toskan airnya.

CARA MEMASAK :

1. Panaskan butter dan tumis bawang merah dan bawamg putih yang telah dimayang halus. Kemudian masukkan daging cincang dan biar sampai daging masak.

(tapi instead of this, i letak serbuk kari. the taste is soo much better!)

 There goes the makaroni

 l
I stared at the oven until dia masak.. hehehe syok!
I give you makaroni bakar my version :)

Go ahead try it! Makan dengan chilli sauce lagi sedap :D
